1 week update:
if you don't want to hear all about the shitty details of this detox thing i'm on just scroll down to the video.
... so yeah, cleanses fuck with your shit! i feel all normal n shit. then i feel completed whacked. i can sleep. the other day i took the largest dump of my entire life. sometimes i look at my fish and think they'd make a great snack along with some edimame and a swig of greens. i kinda feel all tired and energized at the same time. can concentrate a bit longer on 'not thinking straight' for a slightly increased amount of time... basically i think i have some fairly deep rooted bad habits and chemical imbalances that are clinging on for dear life which yeah.. fuck with your shit.
for a buzz, i put assloads of ginger and cayenne into my juice. some serious shit and giggles. seriously.
like nicole, i've been taking it out on the bike and the gym and it's been a huge help not having to do it by myself. i better not slack on the fitness either or i'm going to have trouble keepin up with that girl. sheeeeit!
one things for sure, having a relapse does not help.. it's only been a week but oddly enough it feels like 2 :|
shit, i don't even care about proper capitalization right now!
anyway, my point is, stuff like this is what helps me get through the day...

so this cleanse thing has been pretty intense for me thus far.
starting the week after school finished means i went from putting my body through levels of abuse that are too embarrassing to even tell you about, to full on mormon (less the polygamy.)
it's been hard to sleep a few nights. i have had difficulty focusing at other times. also pulled a few emotional, irrational, "feminine" spats... admittedly i'm facing some unexpected challenges at the moment. also, premenstrual. but lenny could vouch that it's not like this on the regular. i'm trying to remember when he's even seen me cry before this week. oh, it was just dumb over-sensitive girl stuff.
uh yuh. it's only been 5 days.
on the up side, i'm assuming, the hardest 5.
really, so much positive change on the horizon. excitement.
truly. i'm thrilled.
more reason to be thankful, lenny's exceptionally good at setting me straight.
we walked up the hill, wound up here,
and somehow everything was right with the world once again.
also, i've been working out like a maniac. i feel the need to brag about that bike ride cuz i had no idea that i could do it. lenny hyped it so bad. sucka just was trying to psyche me out. it wasn't bad at all! i even made it up the mountainous hill that my parents live on! without stopping! IN ONE GEAR MOFO'S! *rawwwr*
actually been spending lots of time on my bike running around all week. hit the gym 3 times. aaaand my buddy myra treated me to a 90 min hot yoga class tonight at yaletown. sweating... my anti-drug. hah.
lenny and i are supposed to go up to whistler this weekend too. kinda iffy weather. it's up in the air now. how can whistler be calling for rain when it was like this across the street last week?
oh yah. because it's nearly may.
sup, climate change!

Sweet Revenge
With the whole detox thing, I've found that the one thing that can quell my thirst for sweet tasty booze is sweet tasty chocolate. Straight up ugly depressed fat girl thing going on here.

Anyway, it's my new happy place...

Gmaps Pedometer
This has to be one of my favorite tools, and with so many people I know getting on a bike these days, I thought it might be good to post.

Everything from hills, to calories burned. Great for mapping out rides you've done or plan on doing!

Spring Cleaning!
Winters are pretty much crap in Vancouver. Not really that wintery, pretty much just colder, wetter and a darker shade of grey. But as a benefit, they crappy days just happen to be shorter! Anyway, if you're like me, it takes that extra cup of coffee and that extra few on the weekend to get through the season here. But alas, the sun has making an appearance again (although it's been snowing in April wtf?) and the days are becoming milder and longer, the cherry blossoms are out you start to remember why Vancouver is such a great place to live. At this point, instead of taking the opportunity to relax a bit and undo the bad caused by caffeine and alcohol abuse, I usually decide to ramp it up in anticipation of spending most of the summer drunk! Well, this year I must say I definitely feel the need to do the opposite, and I'm dragging Nicole down with me.
It's just for a month to see if there's a difference. But the rules are:
1. No Alcohol: Basically if I drink, I drink more. I've often mentioned that I can drink as long as I'm awake, which I'm pretty sure isn't good. My liver hates me and I'm just not that nice a guy when I'm on the sauce so it's out.
2. No processed caffeine (No Energy Drinks, No Coffee). Green tea, Guarana ok.
There's a few others but overall it's just a reduction of the bad and an increase of the good.
You'll be happy to know that on the 5th and 6th day I relapsed. Shit's hard son! I basically don't have a life outside of boozing, and even coffee for that matter. My only offense right now is my bike and the fact Nicole is also now in the same boat.
Here's some of the steps being taken:
1. Greens+ Daily Detox: Used it the past with some degree of success.
2. Bike: I commute to work by bicycle which is good stuff. I intend to ramp up the fitness with rides like the one Nicole and I did this weekend which took us 25K+ out to Poco. Basically if you were to draw circle around my apartment at a 25K radius, there's a whole whack of good stuff to take in so I'll be getting on that! Now if I can just convince Nicole the coming back part is just as easy...
3. Eating Less Meat: Already started this. If anything, I probably don't see or feel the difference today, but there is a definite environmental factor that I'm sure is good for some kind of good karma, so why not.
4. Taking my Vitamins: Debatable if there is any real benefit but whatever, even if they work as a placebo I'm happy I guess.
5. Sleep: Hopefully all of the above will get me back into some kind of regular sleeping pattern. Generally I don't get more than a few hours of solid sleep which has been the case for so long that I can barely remember what it's like to wake up feeling refreshed and energized. It leaves me feeling somewhere around 80% most days and I know I could be performing better at work and physically, as far as fitness goes, with more sleep.
Anyway, that's it. See you in a month!

nico's gonna goes kray zeee
welp. it's a week after lenny's birthday and i guess i've recovered as much as i'm going to.
i REALLY wanted to get him this:
max knight's walking bike brings together two of lenny's favourite things... shoes + bike.
unfortunately i couldn't get my hands on it so instead we celebrated for a week straight.
two saturdays ago we started a tour de beer mid-afternoon, sushi for dinner, followed by the company of some friends and more beer.
sunday i worked 9 hours and i can't remember anything after that, but i'm sure there was booze involved.
monday we joined avana and the gang at the reef for a pitcher of something slushy and delicious. lenny had the feesh. i discovered i perfer the warm chick pea salad to the jerk tofu quesadilla. still yummy.
tuesday i realized i got the irish heather confused for the six acres. went down with lenny to scope out the joint, but the heather closes early, so we went in for last call at the acres.
from there we proceeded up to doolin's for live music and a couple pints. ha.
wednesday, for the actual big day, i took lenny for a sunset dinner at watermark.
home for dessert - we paired the cake with some kilkenny.
thursday we cruised around...
then friday all the stops were pulled.
our spot at the irish heather turned out to be pretty sweet.
the pictures are a complete mess because i was even more so.
we eventually made our way to the plaza.
first i had to stop to check out what it's like on top of a caterpillar.
darbs and lenny acted unimpressed, but obviously there were.
i'm amazing. front to back it's ian, mateo and lenny.
thankfully the shitty clubzone photographer got some better snaps of a few of us...
veni and mike graciously held the after-party but i was beyond picture taking by that point in the evening.
we also owe ryan a big thanks for our slumber party in his living room.
the next morning i felt like i had been run over by a semi, looked it too, tire treads and all.
lenny introduced me to my first japadog and those things somehow gave us the strength to bike up the hill, home.
and let me tell you, work that evening was beyond trying.
alright this blogging break is over!
i'm drowning in the shit i'm pulling out of my ass for end of term.
blog's in lenny's capable hands til april 20th. peas OUT.
